What's this blog about?

Wanderer Above the Sea of Fog
Caspar David Friedrich
It is about being honest with the most important person: our self.

It is about following our passions despite the criticisms and consequences that may follow.

It is also a social experiment to record the changes that occur in myself and in others when I choose to follow my (relatively) unconventional passions. What are the consequences of going against the grain? Who will support me? Who will hold me back or, worse, abandon me? How will I distinguish between supportive advice and selfish advice? Will I really attain happiness by following my passions? Or is the promise of happiness just a self-constructed illusion? I've got my eggs in the "happiness" basket... I hope I'm right.

The initial purpose of this blog, however, was to act as a moral counterweight to the numerous "Journey to my MBA" type of blogs out there. I canceled my MBA applications at the very last minute after realizing I had been coercing myself to follow the safe, cushioned, and accepted corporate life all along. I write because I believe there are people out there like me.

I hope this blog helps anyone who has ever felt asphyxiated by the pressures of society to be a certain type of person, lead a certain type of life, or follow someone else's dreams.

If my writings are of any positive use to you, I will count them among my greatest joys.
